It appears Diablo II: Resurrected is making progress on Diablo 2 Resurrected Items long-awaited enhancements, as Blizzard has announced the launch of the game's Public Test Realm (PTR) will begin operation on Monday. Initially it appears that the PTR is only being used for the purpose of testing new server back-end items, but Blizzard promises to conduct testing on the update 2.4 which will finally bring Ladder Play, is "coming shortly."

As previously mentioned, the the update 2.4 includes Ladder play (Diablo's name for an online competitive Realm where everyone's progress is evaluated and scored), some changes for mercenaries, aswell as several tweaks to specific classes. As Diablo II Classic, Diablo II: Resurrected will feature four distinct Ladder modes, including:Standard Ladder The casual form of Ladder play that includes play with just four acts.Hardcore Ladder - The hardcore (only one Life) variant of Ladder play that has four acts.Standard Expansion Ladder - The less formal version of Ladder play that encompasses playing five acts.
