How to choose a pressure washer

If you don’t know which pressure washer to choose, just pay attention to the following characteristics:

Type of sink.  All mini-washers can be divided into three large groups:

Household.  Such sinks are quite easy to use, compact and light in weight. Due to their low power, they are mainly intended for infrequent, irregular and short-term use.

Professional.  A professional pressure washer will cost much more than a household one, but at the same time, it will last much longer. Differs in high power, endurance, quality and functionality. Widely used in service stations for car washing.

Industrial.  This type of sink has an even larger set of functions (than professional ones) and higher power, and, accordingly, a higher cost. Great for cleaning trucks and other large vehicles.

Pressure.  The higher the pressure, the greater the water pressure and, accordingly, the dirt is washed off faster and easier. The average pressure value for household sinks ranges from 70 to 150 bar. This pressure is enough to be able to carry out high-quality cleaning of the car. The presence of a water heating system. High-pressure mini-washers with a water heating function are more expensive, but save their owners from having to use hot water or heat the water themselves.

Performance.  The higher the value of this parameter, the greater the force of water supply and its consumption. For household sinks, the average value is 6-12 liters per minute or 360-720 liters per hour.

Hose length.  Here the logic is quite simple: the longer the hose, the more convenient. But, as practice shows, a hose 5-7 meters long is quite enough for many.

Pump body material.  The pressure washer pump housing can be made of plastic or metal. In the first case, the device will cost less, but if you want your mini car wash to last as long as possible, choose a model with a metal pump.

Filter.  Existence of the filter interferes with hit of garbage together with water. And what question may arise here is which filters are better to use: disposable or reusable. And many prefer the latter, considering them better and more practical.

Possibility of self-filling of water. Washers with a self-filling water function are an excellent solution for those who do not have constant access to mains water supply.

Equipment.  It is good if a large set of nozzles is attached to the sink.

How to use a pressure washer

To avoid harm to yourself or your vehicle, when using a pressure washer, follow these guidelines:

  • before starting to work with the sink, carefully read its instructions;
  • car cleaning is best done in pants, long-sleeved clothing, rubber-soled shoes and glasses (in this case, the risk of falling and getting damaged from flying pieces of dirt and other particles is minimal);
  • before starting work, make sure that the spray nozzle is at least 50 cm from the cleaning object;
  • do not bring the spray nozzle closer to the cleaning object than 15-30 cm;
  • the sprayer must be held at an angle of 45 degrees relative to the object of cleaning (in this case, pieces of dirt and other particles will not fly in your direction and will not damage the paintwork of the car).
