Overview for Italy Visa

This visa is intended for use in order to travel to Italy as a tourist, either on a tour operator-organized trip or on an independent basis by making travel and lodging arrangements.

A Schengen visa allows only foreign citizens to visit Italy and other Schengen countries for up to 90 days.

Visa fees for Italy from Pakistan

Please note that applicants will also be charged a service fee of 30 Euros per application, which must be paid in cash upon presentation at the visa application centre

The above fees are set using the exchange rate of the Consulate of Italy in Karachi, effective from 01 JULY 2024.

The following are exempted from the fee when applying for a Schengen visa:

Children under 6 years of age
Pupils, students and accompanying teachers if the purpose of the trip is study or educational training
Researchers from from third countries travelling to the Schengen area to carry out scientific research as defined in Recommendation 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005
Representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 or under who participate in seminars, conferences, sporting, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations.
Participants aged 25 or under in seminars, conferences, sporting, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations.
Spouses, children and dependent ascendants of an EU/EEA citizen exercising free movement rights in Italy, when visiting the person.

Please note that those coming from Afghanistan, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Syrian Arab Republic, whether residents of the above countries or persons who have stayed there for more than four weeks, must be in possession of the International Polio Vaccination Certificate certifying that they have been vaccinated against polio between 4 weeks and 12 months before the date of travel.

The presentation of the above document in the visa application for Italy is an additional eligibility requirement both for issuing the visa and for crossing the external borders.

Photo Specifications for Italy Visa

The photo must:

be clear, sharp and with good contrast
be printed on high quality photographic paper with high resolution
be in color
be 35-40 mm wide
be no more than 6 months old and resemble the applicant
be taken with the applicant facing directly at the camera, against a light background
display the top portion of the shoulders and the complete head. 70–80% of the picture should be taken up by the face.
show open and clearly visible eyes. Hair should not cover the eyes.

Regarding glasses:

glasses are permitted as long as the eyes are clearly visible.

glasses should not be colored
No area of the eyes should be covered by the frames
there should be no reflections in the glasses

Regarding headgear:

religious headgear is permitted, as long as all facial details are clearly shown.

Both cheeks, the forehead, and the chin should be easily visible.
no shadows on the face due to headgear are permitted

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photographs submitted do not meet these requirements, the application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth is available at the visa application center to meet these requirements.

Italy Visa Processing Time

The Consulate General of Italy in Karachi strongly recommends that you apply for an entry visa at least three to four weeks prior to your intended date of departure.
